Sharpe Academy opened on Sunday 7th September 2008 with 6 students in Harrow on the Hill. By the end of the first year 19 students were on register and classes were moved to Harrow High School. The first Gala performance was presented in July 2009 in
the 120-seat Travellers Studio Theatre at Harrow Arts Centre.
In January 2010 Sharpe Academy co-produced a musical production of Our House with Footlights Youth Theatre. When Footlights closed down Sharpe Academy opened a new Stanmore centre to continue classes for their older students. Full-scale musicals became annual events produced at the 500-seat Watersmeet Theatre in Rickmansworth, where in 2012, following a successful Summer School, a third school was opened. September 2014 saw the opening of Sharpe Academy Ruislip at Bishop Ramsey School and in 2015 Sharpe moved into newly renovated offices underneath the auditorium at Watersmeet.
In August 2016 Sharpe Academy broke the official Guinness World Record for the Fastest Theatrical Production when they staged Annie the Musical from start to finish in just 15 hours. The same year the Harrow classes moved to the larger facilities at St Helen's School in Northwood and a new Ballet school was opened at Watersmeet.
In 2017 Sharpe Academy renamed the Stanmore centre which became their flagship performance company, Sharpe Academy London and also opened a second performance company in Northwood.
September 2017 saw Sharpe Academy expanding into Buckinghamshire and opening a new centre in Amersham. Sharpe Academy currently has just over 500 students on register. Alumni of Sharpe are working both as professional performers, teachers and in the academic sector across the world.
To celebrate it's 10th Anniversary year Sharpe produced more shows than ever before from September 2017 to July 2018: Beauty & the Beast JR, Fame JR, Sister Act and Little Shop of Horrors were all presented at Watersmeet in Rickmansworth over the year. A 10 Year Anniversary Gala performance was also presented at The Watford Colosseum.
