Qualification Level: Diploma Level 6
This course is designed to prepare you for a career in an industry that demands an ever-widening range of dance performance and related skills. This is why all students study a range of dance styles and genres throughout the three years of the course.
During Year One...
you'll study a variety of dance styles, regardless of whether your ambition is to work in classical ballet or musical theatre.
At the end of Year One...
you will need to decide on classical ballet or jazz theatre as your main focus for the remainder of your course.
(We can give guidance on your choice if needed).
Shorter course option
These may be available for applicants with suitable previous training (known as Accredited Prior Learning). These students will be placed directly into the second or third year of the course as appropriate.
What qualifications do our graduates receive?
Students who complete the course successfully will graduate with the Northern Ballet School Diploma in Professional Dance.
This incorporates the National Diploma in Professional Dance, validated by Trinity College London. An NVQ Level 6, this qualification is the vocational equivalent of a first degree from university.
Currently there is a limited number of government-funded scholarships available to qualifying applicants from the UK and EU countries. These scholarships are awarded strictly in order of merit, as determined by Northern Ballet School.
